Know No Know
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 30, 2026
Know No Know is a daily mystery-call app: once a day, you're paired with one of your own
friends for a short video call. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the controls you
have. The short version: we collect what the product needs to work, we don't sell your
data, we don't run ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
What we collect
- Phone number — used to create and secure your account (SMS sign-in).
- Name, username, and profile photo — shown to your friends and in friend
search so people you know can find you.
- Your friend connections — who you've added and accepted. Pairing only
ever happens between mutual friends.
- Daily answer cards — the multiple-choice answers you write for the daily
question. They're shown only to the one friend you're paired with that day.
- Call photos ("candids") — optional. If you turn this feature on, the app
captures a small number of frames during your call so you can keep a memory of it. Candids
are off by default, both participants control their own setting, and either participant can
delete a photo at any time.
- Purchases — your subscription or purchase status (via Apple). We never
see your payment details.
- Device and usage data — push-notification tokens, app-activity events
(like "call completed"), and technical logs used to keep the service reliable and safe.
About your calls: video calls are transmitted directly
between devices whenever possible (peer-to-peer). We do not record, store, or listen to your
calls. The only imagery ever saved is the optional candid feature described above, and only
when you have turned it on.
What we don't do
- No ads, and no advertising trackers.
- No selling or renting of your personal information — to anyone, ever.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
- No public feed: nothing you make in Know No Know is broadcast or discoverable beyond the
friend it's meant for.
Who processes data for us
We use a small set of service providers to run the app: Google Firebase
(authentication, database, cloud functions, storage, push notifications), Apple
(sign-in, subscriptions, and payments), and a call-relay provider that passes
encrypted call traffic when a direct connection between devices isn't possible. Each processes
data only to provide these services.
How long we keep things
- Call-connection (signaling) data is deleted automatically within about a day.
- Notification and daily-pairing records are cleaned up automatically on a rolling basis
(roughly 30–60 days).
- Candid photos stay until you or your call partner delete them, or your account is
deleted.
- Account data stays while your account is active.
Deleting your account
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes
your profile, friend connections, answer cards, photos, and sign-in credentials. After
deletion, your phone number can no longer be used to access the old account.
Safety controls
You can block or report any user from a call or from
Settings. Blocking prevents any future pairing between you, immediately and permanently. See
our Community Guidelines.
Children
Know No Know is for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect
personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is using the app,
contact us and we will delete the account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your
personal information. Most of these are built into the app (profile editing, photo deletion,
account deletion). For anything else, email us and we'll help.
Changes
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update this page and the date above, and
for significant changes we'll tell you in the app.
